Codes for Dune 2: Building of a Dynasty

One Passage

Close all passages except one you choose to keep an eye on, by building Turrets on the edge of your base, on this chase, the enemy chooses the only able entering passage to attack instead of the others you already have closed.

Turret Formation

Build turrets by 3x3 in a Square form, on the edge from the base, if it ain´t strong enough, modifie it to 4x4.

Sonic Tank Weakness

Best way is to use a Rocket Launcher. To defeat a Sonic Tank Easily, Go to "OPTIONS" and next "GAME SETTINGS". Set the Game speed to Slow or Slowest. Continue your mission. Effect: The Sonic Tank has no chance to defeat your Rocket Launcher, his range is too small.

Infantry Kill

Infantry Units like Soldiers or Troopers are easy kill by run over them with tracked vehicle Units. It's also much easiër then finnish them with guns.

Able to stop Enemy Building

While Eliminating the enemy base, first Destroy the Construction Yard. The enemy wouldn't build anymore after that building is destroyed, the only way to get a new Construction Yard is to build a Mvc (Heavy Factory Required), but the computer never build this object. So no worry and continue you're attack.

Note: Some levels has two enemy Construction Yards, so it would even possible that buildings can rebuild after destroying the first one.

Invincible

Required: Atreides, Level 5 or higher, High Tech Facility, Repair Facility.

Build walls around the Repair Facility to block the entering passage, and Build a Carryall with the High Tech Factory. then damage one tank or any vehicle until the damage meter gets yellow, the Carryall transport it to the repair facility, and automaticly put it back. now the tank is invincible, when your unit approach the enemy base, they didn't notice you, by any chase destroy all buildings. only a unit will attack you if you attack him.

NOTE: Invincible is only able with Atreides and level 5 or higher.

Accurate Harkonnen Deathhand

When you play as House Harkonnen, you receive a palace in later levels. This palace contains the Deathhand missile. While extremely powerful, it is also the most highly inaccurate projectile. However, if you put the pointy end of your mouse on the top of a structure's flag when aiming and simultaneously hold down the letter T, this missile will destroy that structure and those around it in a single shot.

Build up to 99 units at one time

Use a text editor to edit the " scenario.pak" file. Change the line "MAXUNIT=25" to "MAXUNIT=99".

Cheats:

Here is how to get out of the difficult level 9 if you'replaying the Atreides family. Use aHex editor to edit the SCENARIO.PAK file in the DUNE2 directoryand do thefollowing:

Save the level 9 game.

Go to scenario 22 of the Atreides.

Go to [ATREIDES] and change credit to 30000 and Maxunit to 50

Go to [UNITS] and change all Atreides Siege tanks to AtreidesSonic tanks.

Go to [STRUCTURES] search for palaces of the Harkonnen andSarduakars andchange them all to Ordod palaces.

Go to [REINFORCEMENTS] and change the Atreides tanks toSonics.

Save the new SCENARIO.PAK file. Start the game and load thesaved level 9position.

Go to OPTIONS and RESTART SCENARIO.

You now have loads of credits at your disposal and all of yourtanks have changed intothe more powerful Sonic variety. What's more the missile barragesshould havestopped making the chances of you surviving the level far higher.

Tips:

1. Place concrete slabs before placing structures. It's worthupgrading the constructionyard so you can build the larger slabs. Upgrade the light vehicleand heavy vehiclefactories as soon as you can so you can produce siege tanks. It'sworth upgrading theheavy factory several times on later levels so you can produce amobile constructionvehicle. Watch the state of all your structures and repair themwhen necessary - itcosts spice but it's usually cheaper than building replacements.

Don't bother building walls (they cost too much and don't lastvery long) build rocketturrets instead. You need to upgrade the construction yard to beable to build them butyou're going to do that anyway aren't you? Spot where the enemyare attacking from -they always attack from the same direction - and place concreteslabs on the rock inthat direction. Put half a dozen turrets on the extremities ofthe slabs and with a bit ofluck they should see off most of the attackers before they gettoo close. Keep an eyeon the state of the turrets and repair them when necessary.

3. See whether there's a line of rock that stretches from yourbase towards the enemybase. If there is create a pathway of concrete slabs along therock and position rocketturreys close to the enemy base. When you attack the turrets areable to give yourunits covering fire and you find yourself with a significantadvantage. If there isn't anunbroken line of rock consider using a mobile constructionvehicle to establish aconstruction yard on a piece of rock close to the enemy which youcan then use as abase for extending the range of your turrets.

4. On the later levels it's extremely important to restrictthe amount of spice the enemymines because spice runs out extremely quickly. You need to use afast trike or quadto explore the map and find spice fields and enemy harvesters andthen you simply doeverything possible to destroy the harvesters.

Programming:

If you want to use/build more than 25 units use a Hex editorto edit the scenario.pakfile. Find a line containing:

Brain=HumanMaxunit=25Credit=1500

and change the number after the Maxunit to 99

Hack:

This cheat involves editing one of the Dune2 files, soremember to back up before youstart fiddling around.

Edit the file scenario.pak with a text editor such as writefor Windows(DO NOT USEEDIT IN DOS! This damages the file when you save it so don't tryit). This file containsall sorts of useful information about each of the scenarios forthe different houses. There are 21 scenarios for the different houses and I believethey work as follows.

1 = First level - don't edit this as the game will probablycrash2,3 = Second Level4,5,6 = Third level7,8,9 = Fourth Level10, 11, 12 = Fifth Level13, 14, 15 = Sixth Level16, 17, 18 = Seventh Level19, 20 = Eigth Level21 = Ninth Level

Under each level there is a map seed (do not change thisunless you want to start inthe middle of some sand) and some info about the players. Findthe scenario (orscenarios) that is/are applicable to the level you are on andchange the credits for thehuman player to -1. Save the file and reload Dune2. Load yourgame, then restart thelevel. This will give you 65535 credits, although it looks likeyou have -1 at the start (thecredits will go down to -32767 then flip to positive 32767). Playon and enjoy yourcash.

Remember that the file scenario.pak contains all the infoabout structures and units atthe start of the level, so have a fiddle and give yourself somebetter units. I haven'tworked out how to place units accurately on the map but from whatI can tell, if you addone to the last number of the unit or structure it moves onesquare to the right (forstructures the number represents the top left corner). I havediscovered that overdoingthis hack can cause the game to crash when you try to restart thescenario, andediting Level 1 just doesn't work at all, however you can stillhave some fun, and givehouse-specific units (e.g. Devastator, Sonic Tank) to otherhouses (just remember thatno matter what affiliation a Deviator Tank may be, it still turnsunits to Ordos, which isnot very good for the game if there is no Ordos player. I don'tknow if it will crash ornot, as I have avoided doing this).
